Summary      
Sergeant William Anderson was the son of Samuel Reid and Elizabeth Ann Anderson. He served as an instrument maker with No. 151 Maintenance Unit, Royal Air Force, based at Java. He died from natural causes on 26th January 1942 and was reported buried in Singapore Cemetery. However, all burial records were lost during the Japanese invasion and because it was impossible to identify his grave, Sergeant Anderson’s name is commemorated on Singapore Memorial.

Summary      
The Memorial stands in Kranji War Cemetery. Kranji War Cemetery is 22 kilometres north of the city of Singapore, on the north side of Singapore Island overlooking the Straits of Johore. It is located just to the West of the Singapore-Johore road (Bukit Timah Expressway) on Woodlands Road, just to the south of the crossroads with Turf Club Avenue and Kranji road. There is a short approach road from the main road.
