James Treanor was born in Clogher, County Tyrone. The family later moved to live in Pomeroy. James enlisted in Portadown, where he joined the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. In 1917 he was serving in the Middle East, and was killed in action there on 7th November 1917. At roll call later that day, twenty men were found to be either killed or missing.

James enlisted in Portadown, joining the Royal Irish Fusiliers.

Private James Treanor was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was killed in action in Palestine on Wednesday 7th November 1917.
Twenty men were found to be either killed or missing on that day.
In his will, he shared his estate with his brothers and sister.

Private James Treanor is buried in at Gaza War Cemetery.
