In his will dated 22nd day of February 1916, he was with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
Acting Company Quartermaster Sergeant Robert James Williams was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action during the Third Battle of Ypres at Passchendaele on Thursday 16th August 1917.
In both his Wills, he left all to his mother, who was living in Dublin.
Last Will and Testament of Private R Williams, dated 22nd February 1916:
I, Robert J Williams, No 9272 of the 1st Battalion Regiment of Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, do hereby revoke all former wills by me made, and declare this to be my last Will. After payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, I give my mother Mary Williams, No. 6 Ward, James Street Hospital Dublin, for her sole and separate use, the whole of my estate and effects, and everything that I can by law give or dispose of, and I appoint office i/c records Dublin executor of my will.
In witness whereof, I here unto set my hand this 22nd day of February 1916. Robert James Williams. Signed by witnesses
Last Will and Testament of Private R Williams, dated 24th September 1916 (tbc):
In the event of my death I give the whole of my money and belongings to my mother Mrs Mary Williams, 31 Patrick Street, Dublin. 9272 Private R Williams Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Signed R Williams, Lance Corporal, 7th Inniskilling Fusiliers.
Sergeant R J Williams is buried at Douchy Farm New British Cemetery, near Ypres in Belgium.
